Having developed an interest in art from an early age, I considered a career in art and design when at school and during my A-levels. I gained a place at a prestigious art foundation college though switched direction to follow an education in business. Whilst at University, learning Management Sciences, I came across a building on the Warwick campus where a group of people were enjoying hand painting with young children. I learnt that the group were part of a teacher training programme which offered a range of courses including Art Landscape. A few days later I spoke to the head of the Business School to see if I could integrate Art Landscape with the second year of my degree. I was surprised to be allowed to do so and perhaps my reasoning that it would support my creativity in business helped my case.
Following this, and apart from a short course in painting at Central Saint Martins School of Art, my interests in art lay dormant for the better part of my career as a Consultant in the City of London for over 15 years.
Recently, I took a career break to reconnect and indulge in developing a portfolio of work. During this time I undertook courses in Oil Painting and Figure Drawing at Central Saint Martins and the Body Clothed at the Prince’s Drawing School. With further development of this work and other pieces outside of course time, the results are displayed on this website.
My focus has been to explore the medium used to create the art, hence the way in which I have categorised this website. In time I plan to extend my portfolio to follow themes unique to my style which in itself is evolving from a realistic to impressionistic interpretation of the subject.
The process of creating art together with the ability to interest or even excite others through my work is is hugely rewarding for me and so I hope you enjoy browsing through this site.
